Who Are We?

Our members spread the joy of Star Wars across the country with our costumes based on the Empire and shadier characters from the Star Wars universe.

We are often asked what is the 501st Legion and what do we do?   We are a costuming group that focuses on the ‘bad guy’ costumes of the Star Wars Universe, but the 501st Legion and 501st  Copperhead Outpost Tasmania, are so much more than that. We are a social group with a “fun” focus.  We care for our community both local and international by using our costumes and spare time to raise money for charities, visit children in hospital and contribute to events that need that Star Wars touch.

With full membership, we each become a part of a larger International brotherhood, with friends around the globe, all united with a common love of Star Wars and costuming. Together we share knowledge and experiences and encourage each other to strive to do bigger and better things.  With members in each state and territory of Australia and in over 46 countries around the world, there is nearly always a Trooper nearby that you can call friend.

To become a member, you need to be at least 18 years of age and own a screen accurate bad guy costume from one of the Star Wars films, TV shows, computer games, books and comics. Each costume is owned and in many cases built by our members and is as accurate and some times more true to life, than those used in the films that were made up to 32 years ago. Just by joining our forums, introducing yourself and letting us know which character you would like to become, you will be taking your first step into a much bigger world and that’s one step that you never regret.
So come on in, take a look around. Read the mission reports, look at the photos, sign up to our forum and join in on the fun that the 501st Legion can bring you. Before too long you will have made some new friends and followed the path to the dark side by becoming an Imperial Stormtrooper, Darth Vader or even the notorious Boba Fett.
